Some people have had problems with Spyware Stormer so I thought of adding my own review on it.

Spyware Stormer v1.4.7 Review

Well I was just trying to install SpywareStormer on my computer and it really ate up most of my system resources. I was low on virtual memory within a few minutes because of the fact that something was happening in the background. Spyware stormer was doing the installation after being prompted to install the Active X Control. Well I wouldn't have done that from a not so popular spyware removal website but since I was just writing a review I had to. But before doing that I was clever enough to create a system restore point. Now during installation my computer hanged and I had to forcefully shut off my computer by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del and end spywarestormer.exe process that was running in the background. After restarting just did a mistake to check if Spyware stormer was installed on my computer properly. I double clicked on the icon that was on my desktop and found a pretty looking splash screen of the application that said initializing signatures ... and nothing happened for more than a minute. Result- computer hangs again and I had to hit Ctrl+Alt+Del again to kill spywarestormer.exe process that was running in the background. Well that was my experience but I have heard it on the internet that a lot of people have successfully installed the software but only to know that it doesn't remove spyware until you buy the software subscription. So now people either want the activation key or serial number or the activation code to use the program or simply get rid of it by deleting it from the computer. Well one simple way to uninstall spyware stormer is by going to Control Panel ---> Add/Remove programs and then removing spyware stormer. Another way to delete is by restoring your computer to an earlier time if you have a restore point (More about System Restore). If you don't have a restore point and you are not able to uninstall the program you should take Spyware Stormer's customer support's help: support@spywarestormer.com

What is Spyware?

Spyware is nearly as bad as a virus (and is equally as annoying). To detect and remove it from your computer, you need SpywareRemoval /  SpywareStormer software. Spyware is typically the cause of inordinate amounts of popup windows and may cause your computer to run slowly. It is one of the biggest threats to your privacy and the security of your data. Spyware is a program or a piece of information on your computer that either sends data about you or your computer habits to someone else on the Internet. This can be a thief seeking to steal access to your computer or crucial data like bank information on it. It can also be a program that places unwanted advertisements on your computer and generate plenty of pop-up's on your computer. If a spyware program installs a keylogger it can capture your keystrokes and send it to a third party. This can potentially expose your user IDs and passwords to thieves.

Steps to avoid Spyware. Safe browsing tips:

1.) How does spyware get onto your computer?

It wouldn't get onto your PC until you do something to let it in. Spyware cannot come onto your PC without you downloading something and opening it, without you installing an ActiveX Control or without you visiting crap websites that force you to click on Yes. Some porn,  mp3 download sites, casino related websites, cracks/serials websites are most likely to infest you with spyware. So whenever you have to go and visit these kind of websites make sure you do not click on that Yes button or install that ActiveX Control (it is just like installing spyware on your computer). You should be careful in installing ActiveX Controls since some reputed or trusted websites also require you to install the ActiveX Controls including the Microsoft website. So you have to decide how important that download is to your computer. But never install ActiveX Control or click on Yes  on the websites that are just mentioned above. To know how the ActiveX Control download looks like visit this page: ActiveXControl.htm

Commonly found Spyware

Pop up advertisements: This is one of the most common spyware found on most PC's. Random advertisements keep popping up out of nowhere. Even if you are not browsing the internet and your internet browser is closed you still get pop ups because of the spyware present on your computer. This can at times be really irritating. It also slows down your PC.

Browser Hijacking: is also a common spyware found on most PC's. This kind of spyware usually hijacks your home page to another website. Even if you change it back to the original one the spyware present on your computer can hijack it back next time you start your browser.

Dialers: Some dialer spyware automatically dials a new Internet connection using an expensive 900 type long-distance phone numbers, which comes as a shock when you get your next telephone bill with big numbers. These dialer spyware programs often infect on spam and junk emails. Simply opening the internet explorer browser can inadvertently initiate the dialer to auto dial a number.

URL Loggers: can detect the online activity of the user. The websites you visited and the pages you visit online are all kept track of by the URL loggers.

Key Loggers: can record all keystrokes you hit on your keyboard which may include your credit card numbers, usernames, passwords etc and send it to a third party person.

Virus: A computer virus is a program that is designed to replicate itself and spread from one file to other, usually by attaching itself to applications and files. When this application is run, it can infect other files on a user's disk. Usually a human activity causes the virus to spread to another user's files. This can be performed by downloading files, trading diskettes with others, copying files to/from file servers, or sending e-mail attachments.

Trojans horse: can look like something harmless yet can be really devastating. Your computer data may be copied, distributed or be rendered useless. It might first look like a useful software but after being installed can actually cause severe damage to your computer by deleting files and destroying them. Trojans do not reproduce by infecting other files and replicating itself. while it runs, it could be allowing "back door" access to your computer by hackers or destroying files on your hard disk. For protection a against a Trojan Horse, users must be suspicious of any unknown program and be sure it is safe before running it.

Worm:  also infects other computers, but it spreads to other computers on a network automatically and without any human action. No wonder computer worms spread more rapidly than computer viruses. A worm doesn't alter or delete files but instead they reside in memory, eat up system resources, and slow down your computer. To protect against a worm, network users must keep up with operating system patches and updates and be aware of any suspicious traffic.

Still can't get rid of spyware?

Try posting your problems in the forums. It is recommended that you install HijackThis before going to forums.

HijackThis is a tool which you should use after you have tried everything but in vain. It doesn't attempt to identify which code it thinks is spyware, and it won't offer to remove the spyware automatically. To use HijackThis effectively, you will need advice from the experts. HijackThis looks deep into Windows where spyware programs can hide, and help you figure out how to uproot them. After running the program HijackThis gives you an inventory of everything it has found in the different locations where spyware can live. You should post the results of this log, along with a description of your symptoms, on any spyware related forum and somebody would be able to assist you.
